Delta Reign: The Wishiwashi ex Deck

From Delta Reign comes a Water deck that lives off the school. Wishiwashi ex attacks for 220 damage and heals itself, while four small Wishiwashi punish every attacker with damage counters. The set launches on 6 November 2026.

The attacker: Wishiwashi ex

  • Basic Pokémon, 260 HP, Water type
  • Ability Ocean Gain: once during your turn, if Wishiwashi ex is in the Active Spot, heal 50 damage from it.
  • Hydro Splash for three Water and one Colorless Energy: 220 damage.

Four Energy is a lot. That is why the deck plays Misty's Vitality and Dewgong, so Wishiwashi ex attacks quickly.

The school: Wishiwashi from 30th Celebration

  • Basic Pokémon, 30 HP, Water type (30th Celebration 022/128)
  • Ability Konterschwarm (German name, roughly "Counter School"): when your Wishiwashi or Wishiwashi ex in the Active Spot is damaged by an attack, even if it is Knocked Out, put 3 damage counters on the attacking Pokémon.

Every Wishiwashi in play has the Ability. With several of them out, the damage counters add up, and every attack on Wishiwashi ex gets expensive for your opponent.

Energy and switching

Misty's Vitality 080/084
Misty's Vitality attaches up to four Water Energy at once.
  • Misty's Vitality (German: Mistys Vitalität, Dunkelnacht 080/084): search your deck for up to 4 Basic Water Energy and attach them to 1 of your Pokémon. Your turn ends. That fully powers up Wishiwashi ex in one go.
  • Dewgong (Perfect Order 019/088), Stage 1 from Seel: Ability Wegspülen (German name), as often as you like during your turn, move a Water Energy from one of your Benched Pokémon to your Active Pokémon.
  • Surfstrand (German Stadium name, Mega Evolution 129/132): once during each player's turn, that player may switch their Active Water Pokémon with a Water Pokémon on their Bench.
Dewgong 019/088 from Perfect Order
Dewgong pushes the Energy from the Bench to the front.

A typical turn goes like this: Misty's Vitality powers up a Pokémon on the Bench. Next turn, Surfstrand or Dewgong brings the Energy forward, and Wishiwashi ex attacks. If it is damaged, you switch it out via Surfstrand and heal it later with its Ability.

Is the deck worth it?

Wishiwashi ex and Pincurchin are cards from Delta Reign, the Wishiwashi come from 30th Celebration, the rest from sets already released. With only seven Energy, everything depends on Misty's Vitality: without it, Wishiwashi ex attacks late. The strength is staying power. 260 HP, 50 healing per turn and the damage counters from the school make the deck tough. More about the set in Delta Reign: Everything You Need to Know.

Delta Reign is largely based on the Japanese expansion Storm Emeralda. We already have it as a Japanese display with 30 boosters. Want the German version at release? Sign up via the contact form or join our Discord.
